Diane Sullenberger was installed on 3 May as president of the Council of Science Editors for 2011–2012. Sullenberger served as a director on the CSE Board from 2004 through 2007. She also chaired the Program Committee for the 2009 CSE annual meeting, taught in the CSE Short Course for Journal Editors, chaired the Membership Committee, and served on other CSE committees. Sullenberger is executive editor ofProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.
Newly Elected
Heather Goodell, director of scientific publishing for the American Heart Association, was elected vice president for 2011–2012. Goodell served as a director on the CSE Board from 2009 to 2011. From 2006 to 2009, she chaired the CSE Editorial Policy Committee. She has also served as a member of the CSE Program Committee and a speaker and moderator at CSE annual meetings.
Pamella Erickson, of Global Medical Communications at Eli Lilly and Company, was elected secretary. She served a 1-year term as secretary in 2010–2011 and chaired the CSE Education Committee from 2007 to 2009.
Tim Cross, product marketing manager at Allen Press, Inc, was elected director. A CSE member since 2006, Cross served as the chair of the CSE Membership Committee from 2008 to 2011.
Kristi A Overgaard, editorial and production manager at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, was appointed to a 1-year term as director. Overgaard joined CSE in 2001 and has served as the chair of the CSE Editorial Policy Committee and member of the CSE Program Committee.
Continuing on the Board
Kenneth F Heideman, director of publications for the American Meteorological Society, has ascended from vice president to president-elect. Anna G Trudgett, assistant director–editorial and managing editor of Blood, continues as director. Kevin E Pirkey, vice president of Odyssey Press, Inc, and President and Publisher of Self Publishing Press, continues as treasurer. Michael Clarke, executive vice president for product and market development at Silverchair Information Systems, continues as treasurer-elect. Christine Laine, editor of the Annals of Internal Medicine, remains on the Board as immediate past president.
