In the US, things aren’t going well on the pandemic front. With case counts continuing to rise, it’s looking like most of us will be working from home for the foreseeable future. For some, this change is likely to be permanent as organizations embrace the cost-savings of not maintaining offices.
While there is some comfort in knowing that, unlike many professions, the bulk of scientific editing and publishing can be done remotely, it’s still less than ideal for many, especially working parents facing uncertain daycare and school situations.
With that in mind, our intrepid Infovore, Barbara Meyers Ford, has “gathered up a variety of resources focused on how to make the most of telecommuting” in hopes of providing “each Science Editor reader with at least one useful resource as we strive to continue publishing quality and timely information despite our current situation.” Her column, “COVID-19–Relevant News, WFH Suggestions, Management Tips, and a Few Lighter Posts”, is available here.
As we did last year, the remainder of this Science Editor July Newsletter is the Summer Edition Link-a-rama. We’ve collected links of recent Science Editor articles, Annual Meeting Report, other resources, and more. Enjoy at your own pace.
Finally, be on the lookout online and in mailboxes next month for the Summer 2020 issue of Science Editor.
